Meet Dr. Robert Ortega (He/Him/His)
I am a Psychologist serving Virginia and Washington, DC, specializing in treating anxiety disorders, ADHD, and chronic illness. I also specialize in treating people who work in social and political activism, an area in which I have published peer-reviewed articles. I provide talk therapy, focused on working with adults. I have been working in the field for over 10 years and enjoy working with motivated, growth-oriented clients who want to improve their engagement with life.
My Approach
As a clinician, I integrate a variety of techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Relational, and Multicultural approaches to meet client needs. Fundamentally, I believe that the relationship between the client and therapist is most crucial to effective therapy. In order to achieve a strong professional relationship, I focus on creating a safe, growth promoting environment in therapy. Within this emphasis, I recognize the importance of identity, culture, and client experiences as being crucial to understanding a client’s life, struggles, and strengths.
